Who’s Who in Kuching

Unveiled those Crouching Tigers and Hidden Dragons in the City

Interviewed and Written by Mrs. Money

Cheral Ting, Couturier
Upon her graduation if her fate of opportunity was diverted to stay behind with great master couturiers in Europe, with her existing skills and gifted talents anytime could have path her a lustre future rolling along timelessly with those rich and famous world class fashion designers, we would be then able to meet her in Hello magazine only!

Cheral received her diploma in Women Light Clothing from Chiswick Polytechnic, London in 1972. Normally a course of two years which only took her 6 months to complete and she also walked off with a creativity award before returning to Malaysia, got married and juggled family life just like the rest of mothers who swallowed all sort of problems yet remaining elegant quiet composure at the same time fostered their young children to see them growing up along with their increasing white hairs.

What a bless for those lucky local Kuching rich ladies who could get Cheral’s couture sometimes for only range between RM300++ to less than a thousand ringgit with that one never worries her purchased piece also being seem on someone’s body. With Cheral almost 40 accumulated years experience and talents in fact her individual idiomatical creation could have worth 10 times more than that. Ones should not be afraid to shock country pumpkins with Cheral’s rebellious apparels on, her good cuttings, coherent techniques and abilities to use right materials to cover up ones’ fat is her genius. I think if ones appreciate Van Gogh’s paintings they will appreciate Cheral’s stylistic approach and expressions.

On and off Cheral worked but kept in low profile as her faithful benefactresses would always give her continuous supports, recently (since 6 months ago) she again begins to work in a leisure manner after a long hibernation. Despite towards her semi-retiring age, her forever youthful trendy creative mind is reserved. She prefers to choose an easy life, she works depends on her moods and well-beings; if even ones pay her she won’t necessary take up her scissor. However, once she starts to work she is a very prolific amazing speedy couturier.

Definitely it is worth for her fans to bring her a cup of unsweetened Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee for an eye-opening-browse through her most recent creative essence in her unnamed studio opposite of Tabuan Jaya Petronas gas station and for me I would continue to persuade her to organize a “Rock-Up Kuching” cat-walk show with her approval stamp on, to witness her talents that will definitely make the local onlookers’ hesitate if really local ginger is not hot?
